THE LEVEL OF MASTERY OF QIRAAT KNOWLEDGE IN SEKOLAH MENENGAH AGAMA PERSEKUTUAN BENTONG

Abstract

The knowledge of Qiraat is a field in Islamic Studies that is growing nowadays. The establishment of various educational institutions that offer the field of study of Qiraat knowledge is growing, showing that this knowledge is gaining attention. The government through the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) has introduced the knowledge of Qiraat as early as at the secondary education level through the subject of Maharat al-Quran under the Integrated Curriculum Tahfiz (KBT). However, studies on the level of mastery of Qiraat knowledge have not been widely implemented especially for the Tahfiz Model Ulul Albab (TMUA) students. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the level of mastery and level of knowledge of Qiraat. This study uses a descriptive method that is quantitative, and the instrument uses a set of questionnaires. The sample of this study consisted of 138 form 5 students of Sekolah Menengah Agama Persekutuan Bentong, Karak, Pahang (SMAP Bentong). A sample of 138 students was determined by referring to the table of Krejcie & Morgan (1970). The study found that the level of mastery of TMUA students on the knowledge of Qiraat is at a moderate level and is supported by the findings of studies that have been conducted by other researchers. Therefore, the method of teaching and learning Qiraat knowledge needs to be given attention and improved so that level of mastery of Qiraat knowledge among TMUA students can be improved to a higher and better level.
